Moving Forward with the President:
Chaplains Hope for Change in Policy

WASHINGTON — Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty hopes that President Obama will use his next four years in office to make the needed changes in policy to protect the religious liberty of our chaplains and those they serve.

Chaplain (Colonel) Ron Crews, USAR Retired, executive director for Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty, said, “We will continue to work with members of Congress to provide protections for our military chaplains in an increasingly difficult climate.  Military chaplains will continue to serve with grace and dignity all who come to them for ministry and will provide support to their commanders’ religious support plans. However, our chaplains will remain true to Biblical values.  We believe that every American, especially those who wear the uniform, should be able to exercise their religious liberties without fear of reprisal.”

“We hope the president will lead this nation in a way that honors and supports our military and embraces the genuine pluralism that makes this country great. To that end, the religious liberties of all uniformed personnel must be valued, and the right to stand for Biblical convictions for which many have died must be protected and preserved indefinitely.”

Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty is an organization of chaplain endorsers, the faith groups that provide chaplains for the U.S. military and other agencies needing chaplains. The endorsers in Chaplain Alliance speak for more than 2,600 chaplains serving the Armed Forces.
